Handy Guide to Bodog Poker Tournaments

Not sure which kind of tournament to try? Bodog has many available, here’s a guide to what you need to know:

Multi-Table Tournaments

MTTs are the classic tournaments in which everybody starts with the same number of chips and play until somebody is holding them all. Blinds and antes increase to keep the action going and pressure on. The entry fees of players are pooled and divided among the top finishers. A classic MTT is Bodog’s Sunday $100K Guaranteed at 4 p.m. EST where hundreds of players compete for a piece of at least $100K.

Freerolls

An MTT that you play for free. Prizes range from cash, to player points, to entries into other, more lucrative MTTs. Bodog periodically will send out special offers to play in tournaments for free. Keep your eyes on your email!

Qualifiers

Sometimes referred to as Satellites, Qualifiers are tournaments designed to allow players to win their way into tournaments with higher buy-ins. Qualifier tournaments pay out with tournament credits which can be used to buy directly into the next level of the tournament. For example, here’s how you might qualify to play in the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Sit and Go

SNGs are tournaments that do not start at a certain time but rather as soon as the tournament has filled up. SNGs can be as small as a heads-up match between two players or as big as five tables with 45 players.

Sit and Go Turbos

A SNG variation in which the blinds increase faster. Instead of moving up every 10 minutes, they go up every five. Super Turbos go up every three minutes. These are great tournaments when you don’t have too much time to invest.
