Finnish tycoon finances UK Casino
Poju Zabludowicz, a man with an estimated fortune of around four billion dollars (ranked by the Sunday Times as the 24th richest person in the UK), has been named as one of the UK Conservative Party’s financial backers.
The company, Tamares Group, which Zabludowicz controls, is reported to have donated approximately $140,000 to David Cameron’s leadership campaigns for the last three consecutive years.
The Tamares Group own the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas along with having other hotel and casino interests.
Cameron’s opposition party was opposed to plans for Britain’s first super-casino.
A spokesperson for the Conservative Party said, “There is no secret about the fact that he is a ‘nondomicile’ but he has given though his UK limited companies and it is completely above board.”
Zabludowicz’s spokesperson said, “It’s the company rather than him personally that gives to the Conservatives.”
