Old style gangster crime in Atlantic City casino
Wednesday saw the bust of an illegal gambling ring in an Atlantic City casino, which resulted in 18 people being arrested. Four of those arrested had definite mob ties, whilst six others were casino employees. The arrested gangsters are rumoured to be ringleaders of the Philadephia mob. This has sparked fears that Atlantic City is returning to an old style gangster rule that was rife until gambling regulations were put into place in the late 1970s.
The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa cooperated with the investigation, stating that although some employees were involved, it is not a reflection of the casino’s integrity as a whole and their reputation is in tact. A Casino Control Commission spoke person has stated that any casino employees that have been arrested will almost certainly have their licenses revoked by the Division of Gaming Enforcement.
